Send Payroll Funds to Mantle From Your Wallet

Payroll reaches Mantle only when the payment lands on that network in a supported token; the sending route depends on where the funds are held now.

Send Payroll Funds to Mantle From Your Wallet

To send payroll funds to Mantle, transfer the payment to each recipient’s wallet address on Mantle, or bridge the funds first if they are held on another network. A wallet address alone does not identify a network: the same address can receive assets on multiple chains, and a transfer on Ethereum will not appear as a Mantle payment. Confirm the token and destination network with each recipient before sending.

For payroll paid from a wallet, the key decision is whether the funds already exist on Mantle. A transfer between two Mantle addresses is an ordinary on-network transaction. Moving assets from Ethereum to Mantle is a cross-chain deposit, handled by a bridge contract and its message system. The mantle bridge article explains the deposit, fee and withdrawal path in more detail. For a payroll run, keep the source network, destination network, token and recipient list explicit in the payment record.

What do I need before sending payroll to Mantle?

You need a source wallet with the payroll asset, the recipients’ Mantle addresses and enough MNT on Mantle to pay transaction fees. Mantle is an Ethereum Layer 2, but it has its own execution state. MNT is the network’s native gas token. Recipients who receive a token payment may still need MNT to move or use those tokens later.

Agree on the asset by its network and token contract, not only its ticker or display name. A token with the same symbol on two networks can refer to different contracts or representations. Confirm that the recipient’s wallet or intended payment destination supports that asset on Mantle. If a payroll provider or exchange sends the funds, verify that its withdrawal option names Mantle as the network; selecting the wrong network can leave the transfer unavailable to the recipient and may require a separate recovery process.

Before the first payroll run, test the complete route with a small payment. Have the recipient confirm the asset appears on Mantle and can be transferred. Record each recipient’s address and the agreed token securely, then check the address against the payment instruction when preparing the run. This validates the operational path without assuming that an address copied from another network or an asset with a familiar ticker is correct.

How do I move funds from another network to Mantle?

If the payroll funds are on Ethereum, use a bridge route that deposits the selected asset to Mantle. A canonical bridge locks or otherwise accounts for the source asset and sends a cross-domain message that results in the corresponding asset becoming available on Mantle. This is different from entering a Mantle address in an Ethereum transfer: that transfer changes balances on Ethereum only.

In the bridge interface, connect the wallet holding the funds, choose Ethereum as the source and Mantle as the destination, select an asset supported for that route, and enter the amount. Review the receiving address, estimated fees and any approval request before confirming. ERC-20 assets commonly require a separate approval transaction that authorizes the bridge contract to spend a specified amount; the deposit is a subsequent transaction. Both actions incur source-network costs. The amount received can also differ from the amount entered if the route charges fees.

After submitting the deposit, follow its status until the funds appear on Mantle. A source-chain confirmation does not necessarily mean the destination credit is already complete. Bridge processing depends on the protocol’s message and finalization steps, and availability can vary by route and network conditions. Do not schedule payroll as complete based only on the source transaction hash. Check the destination balance or transaction record before marking a payment funded.

How do I pay multiple recipients from a Mantle wallet?

When the payroll asset and sender balance are already on Mantle, send a token transfer to each recipient’s Mantle address. For a standard ERC-20 token, the sender calls the token contract’s transfer function; the wallet presents the amount, recipient and fee for confirmation. If paying MNT itself, the wallet sends a native-token transfer. In either case, the sender’s wallet needs enough MNT for network fees in addition to the payroll amount.

  • Prepare a recipient ledger with the Mantle address, token contract, amount and payment reference.
  • Check that the sender holds the total payout balance and a separate MNT fee balance.
  • Send a small test payment for a new recipient or token, then verify receipt on Mantle.
  • After each transaction, reconcile the amount and destination against the ledger and retain its transaction hash.

Sending separate transfers gives each payment its own transaction record, but it also means more confirmations and more opportunities for an address or amount error. A batch-transfer contract can combine many payouts into one transaction, where supported, but it introduces another contract dependency and a failure mode: one invalid item may revert the whole batch, depending on the contract’s design. For recurring payroll, use batching only after testing its exact behavior and verifying how it reports partial or failed transfers.

What can go wrong with a Mantle payroll transfer?

The main failure is a network mismatch: the asset was sent on the wrong chain, or the recipient expected a different token contract. A second is an underfunded sender. A payroll wallet can hold enough stablecoins for salaries but still lack MNT for the Mantle transaction fees. A bridge deposit has a separate source-side fee requirement, so funds on Ethereum need enough of that network’s gas token as well.

Use the transaction record to distinguish pending, failed and completed payments. A failed transaction generally does not transfer the token, though the sender may still pay a fee for execution. A successful transaction on the wrong network is not a successful Mantle payment. The practical rule is to verify the destination chain and token before signing, then verify settlement on Mantle before closing the payroll run.
